Office of Sponsored Research and Programs


The Office of Sponsored Research and Programs (OSRP) is part of the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs, and reports directly to Academic Affairs.  

OSRP is a "one-stop shop" comprised of nine staff members which includes one director, two pre award and six post award personnel (OSRP Organizational Chart).  Our purpose is to foster an environment which encourages research, scholarly inquiry and creative activities by the faculty through technically assisting in the acquisition of extramural funding.

It is responsible to the University and to the funding agencies for the financial and regulatory administration of all contracts and grants awarded to North Carolina Central University. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to:

  • Identifying funding opportunities
  • Assisting with proposal applications and budget preparation
  • Providing Training to faculty and grant administrators
  • Establishing policies and procedures consistent with federal and state regulations
  • Determining the propriety and reasonableness of costs.
  • Exercising budgetary control of contracts and grants
  • Preparing and submitting interim and final financial reports
  • Preparing periodic invoices and requests for funds
  • Maintaining an effective and auditable effort reporting system
