E.J. Johnson to Share Journey at Oct. 9 Rock The Lyceum


Earvin “E.J.” Johnson III, an accomplished television personality and fashion correspondent, will be the featured speaker at North Carolina Central University’s (NCCU)  Rock the Lyceum lecture series at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9. The event, which is free and open to the public, will take place in the B.N. Duke Auditorium on the NCCU campus. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.  

A Los Angeles native, Johnson has served as an E! News fashion correspondent for NY Fashion Week, as well as starred in E! Entertainment television network’s hit reality series “#Rich Kids of Beverly Hills.” The 26-year-old commentator has provided expert knowledge on fashion and entertainment, appearing on nationally-syndicated talk shows such as “The Wendy Williams Show” and “Bethenny.”

The son of NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson and philanthropist and entrepreneur Cookie Johnson, Johnson also starred in his own E! Entertainment spin off, “EJNYC,” which followed Johnson and his inner circle through their adventures living in New York City. “EJNYC” was one of the first reality series to profile a young LGBTQ person of color. Johnson is a 2015 graduate of New York University. He earned a bachelor’s degree in event planning and hospitality.

The Rock the Lyceum lecture series is hosted by NCCU’s Office of Student Engagement and Leadership, along with the Lyceum Committee. The series brings in several of the nation’s top entrepreneurs and thought-leaders to engage students in relevant topics in education, entertainment, politics, and social justice. Past speakers include Keke Palmer, Angela Rye, T.I., Michael Vick, Roland Martin and Phylicia Rashad.
