Housing Process

For Freshmen

Freshmen who submit their completed application by June 30 are guaranteed housing. A Freshman is any student who has twenty-nine (29) or less college/university credit hours from NCCU and who did not complete any college credit hours after graduating from high school at a college/university other than NCCU.  For your application to be complete, the $150 nonrefundable housing administrative fee must be paid in full and should be paid when completing the online application. Once we have received your completed application you will receive a confirmation notice. The housing selection process will begin on May 1.  During this time, Freshmen who have competed their housing application, can select their room assignment.

Freshmen may choose from the following residence halls:

  • Baynes
  • Eagleson
  • McLean
  • Richmond
  • New Res II
  • Rush 

Freshmen who members of a Living, Learning Community or Student Athlete could be housed in New Res II, Rush, Annie Day or Ruffin.

Please note: Transfer students are are eligible to apply for housing.  However, transfer students are not guaranteed housing.  A transfer student is any student who has completed at least one credit hour from a college/university other than NCCU after graduating from high school.

To apply for housing, please login to your MyEOL and select “Apply For Housing”.

For Returning Students

Online Housing Selection Process

R.A.C.E. (Register. Acknowledge. Choose. Exhale.)

  1. Register for a minimum of 12 credit hours for Fall 2019.
  2. Acknowledge the email from Residential Life that confirms the department has received notification that you are registered for classes.  If you are registered for classes and did not receive an email, please contact Residential Life immediately.  Do not wait until your designated selection date to notify the department.
  3. Choose your room on your designated classification dates
  4. Exhale because you have won the RACE!

Rising Sophomores may choose the following residence halls from April 9 -12:

  • Chidley
  • New Res II
  • Richmond
  • Rush

Rising Juniors/Seniors may choose the following halls from April 16- 20:

  • Eagle Landing 
  • Ruffin
  • Martha Street

Please Note:  Based on number of applications, hall classifications are subject to change.
