Renee Elder has been senior editor for North Carolina Central University’s Office of University Relations since 2013.

Previously, she was a freelance writer and editor in Raleigh, N.C., and a former newspaper magazine writer and editor. Renee holds a B.S. in mass communications from Middle Tennessee State University, where she edited the student newspaper and began working as an undergraduate for The Tennessean in Nashville.

From 2000 to 2002, she served as managing editor for Journal Communications, a Franklin, Tenn., -based publisher specializing in customized community magazines for chambers of commerce and tourism clients around the country.

From 2003 to 2013, Renee operated ClearText Services, providing content, editing and project management for clients such as Journal Communications, the News and Observer, the Associated Press, Scott-Madden management consultants, SAS and others.
