Requesting New Software

Faculty and Staff Workstation Requests

If you are an NCCU faculty or staff member and would like to request software for departmental machines, make sure you start with a quote from ITS by completing the software quote/installation request form. To access the form visit https://helpdesk.nccu.edu, select "Hardware & Software" and select "Software Installation Quote."

Software Review Process

Software installation, testing and deployment can be a timely process. If your request is for software that ITS has not previously supported, we may need up to 20 days (though it is usually much quicker) to fully evaluate the software for use. If the software poses a threat to computer operations or our network security, the request will be denied.

Software requests must be submitted according to semester deadlines. Late submissions will default to the next semester.

Once a decision is made, you will be contacted by an ITS representative indicating when the software is ready for use.

Software Updates

It is assumed that all software licenses are to be updated yearly, if you or your department has received a notice to update make sure to contact ETAC at (919) 530-7676 with all update information (i.e. new license key, upgrade instructions). Some software requires that you pay a yearly fee, please make sure that is paid before contacting ITS.

ITS also offers software for personal devices for purchase and for free.
