Theatre Department Overview

NCCU Theatre Logo

NCCU's award-winning Department of Theatre has been unique over the years because of the program's capacity to transform a creative notion about theatre into practical knowledge and skills. North Carolina Central University's Department of Theatre is designed to satisfy the needs of a broad range of enthusiastic students and to give them the widest possible exposure to man's accomplishments in theatre and to experiences that will develop them as capable theatre practitioners. The most unique aspect of NCCU's

Theatre program is the opportunity to choose from five different theatre concentrations: Performance, Theatre Education, Dance Education, Technical Theatre, and General Theatre. Offering a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre, our practical concentrations address the growing concern for the future of our majors and prepare them to become performers, teachers, designers and technicians, production managers, media specialists, and dramaturgs.

NCCU complies with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in all programs and activities (including sexual harassment and sexual violence) in the University's educational programs and activities.
